Today, Apple announced a new generation of the Apple TV 4K. The new model comes with the A15 Bionic chip, HDR10+ support, a new Siri Remote with USB-C, and a price drop.

WHAT’S NEW

The new Apple TV looks the same on the outside as the previous 2021 model. The biggest change in the new Apple TV is inside the device. The new Apple TV comes with the A15 Bionic chipset. This is the same chipset in iPhone 13.

The A15 chipset is up to 50% faster than the previous Apple TV. Also, the new GPU is 30% faster. According to Apple, this results in better graphics performance for navigating through the tvOS interface but more importantly, for Zwifters, it is better for playing graphic-intensive games. Whether Zwift will take advantage of the new chip and give the game a higher profile is unknown at this point.

The Siri Remote, which was redesigned last year, also got a new update and now has a USB-C port instead of Lightning for charging.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

The new Apple TV retails for $129 for the Wi-Fi model with 64GB of storage, and there is a new Wi-Fi + Ethernet model with 128GB of storage that costs $149. The Apple TV is available to order today on Apple Online Store and will start shipping on November 4.
