This morning, Zwift confirmed they will be adding a virtual replica of the 2019 UCI Road World Championship course that will take place in Yorkshire later next month.

The UCI World Championship will take place September 22-29th. This will be the third UCI World Championship course in Zwift.

“I’m delighted to be continuing our long-standing history with the UCI Road World Championships,” adds Eric Min, Zwift CEO and Co-Founder. “Ours is a history that dates back to the Richmond in 2015 – a course that still produces some of the most exciting racing on Zwift. Like we have done with Richmond and Innsbruck-Tirol, we hope to bring more people closer to the action by being able to experience the Yorkshire course from the comfort of their own home. For those closer to the action, I hope to see many at our Zwift Draft House.”

Zwift didn’t say when the course will be available to ride on Zwift but I expect to see it probably around the 2nd week of September.

The Harrogate circuit will be featured in many of the events mostly towards the end of races. The mixed relay team time trial, men junior and women junior time trial will take place exclusively on the Harrogate circuit.

Here is the route description from the UCI website:

The loop heads out to the west of Harrogate towards the RHS Garden Harlow Carr and into the neighboring countryside. A series of short, sharp ascents and descents must be overcome before the riders head back into the town, skirting the Valley Gardens and through the beautiful Duchy estate. Once back in the center, large crowds will cheer them around a succession of testing corners before the final rise to the finish line along Parliament Street.

The Harrogate circuit is 8.7 miles (14.1km) in length, with 741ft (226m) of elevation gain. It features two major climbs: The Pot Bank and Penny Pot Lane but the circuit seem full of little steep climbs, twists and turns.

Just like previous events, Zwift will continue its tradition with the Zwift Draft House for hanging out, grabbing a cup of coffee or refuel with some food. You can also try out the Zwift platform and experience the course using different smart trainers they will have available on site.

Zwift will operate its first pop up store from within the Zwift Draft House, providing Zwift Fans an opportunity to try on, and purchase Zwift fan apparel and merchandise.

  • I haven’t been on Zwift in quite a while, so will this course be open all the time to just ride, or only special rides/races

    • Keith,
It should be added to the route selection menu on its scheduled days when it’s released. So you should be able to select it and ride it on your own or as part of an event. But I am not sure if Zwift will keep it going forward as they did with Innsbruck and Richmond or sunset it after the UCI event. I reached out to Zwift for more details.

    • Just confirmed with Zwift that it will follow the same pattern as Innsbruck and Richmond so you should see it in the world calendar rotation.
